Abstract
It is included on Present papers that the enzyme activities of Glutamic
oxaloacetic(GOT) and Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase(GPT) were testified with several
strains of human tubercle bacilli and other Mycobacteria (Scotochromogen and M.
Smegmatis).
Calculation of both enzyme activities were conducted with Wroblewski's method
(GPT) and Umbreit's method (GOT) in both techniques the formation of oxaloacetic or
Pyruvic acid from L-ketoglutaric acid and aspartic or alanine are catalyzed by the
Mycobacterial GOT or GPT The Oxaloacetic or Pyruvic acid formed are then reacted
with dinitrophenyihydrazine- to form the colored hydrazones which are measured
spetrophotometrically.
Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase activities of the tested strains are following
as.'Drug sensitive tubercle bacilliisolated from TB patients, 42, 47 units; INH resistant
human tubercle bacilli, 40, 41 units; H37Rv 53units; Scotochromogen(one
strain), units; M. smegmatis, 12 units.
Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase activities of the tested strains are following as: Drug
sensitive tubercle bacilli, 14, 18 units; INH resistant tubercle bacilli, 32, 33 units;
H37Rv, 20 units; Scotochromogen, 44units; M. Smegmatis, 7units.
